Malta Powerlifting Association is a group of athletes, coaches, volunteers and gyms that dedicate their free time to helping the sport grow to the best of its abilities. We are the recognized local affiliates of the International Powerlifting Federation (IPF) and the European Powerlifting Federation (EPF). 

As members of the IPF we are bound to follow the same guidelines, rules and values as the federation. We also provide our athletes the opportunity to participate both locally and at an international level under these same principles.

The Malta Powerlifting Association became an affiliate of the International Powerlifting Federation (IPF)  and the European Powerlifting Federation (EPF) in 2020. Since then, MPA organizes between three to four local events a year and hosts several international events such as the Worlds Open Classic Championship in 2023. MPA is registered as a Voluntary Organisation (VO1940)  in line with the Voluntary Organisations Act (Chapter 492 of the Laws of Malta). The MPA strives to promote and grow the sports of powerlifting in Malta especially on grassroot levels up to the master’s divisions. 

The MPA strives to promote clean and fair sports and abides by the World Anti-Doping Agency’s (WADA) regulations regarding drug testing. International athletes are included in the Random Testing Pool, and it is a member of the National Anti-Doping Organization (NADO).
